The Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing’s offices currently have limited access to the public. It is important to note that all license expiration dates have been temporarily extended per an Executive Order from Governor Larry Hogan. You are encouraged to continue taking your continuing education courses, renewing your licenses online, and performing all other activities that are required for your license to the extent that you are able. Please check back here periodically for further updates.

Exam candidates: The testing vendors that administer licensing exams for our boards and commissions have begun reopening Maryland test sites. Check the status of your testing center directly for updated scheduling and exam information. (Updated June 24, 2020)

Overseeing 21 licensing boards, commissions and programs appointed by the Governor, the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing is responsible for regulating the activities of more than 255,000 individuals and businesses across 25 professions.

The Division's mission is to help foster economic growth by assisting our customers in a timely, professional manner while protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public by assuring that our licensees have met a standard of expertise.

From the time you wake up in the morning until you go to sleep at night, you will likely have come into contact with one of our licensees. We are focused on making sure that these services are provided to our citizens by competent, duly licensed professionals. We strive to provide these licensing services in a customer-friendly and efficient manner. The Division’s licensing boards and commissions are open to provide walk-in assistance Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and by appointment. Please contact boards and commissions directly to request an appointment. Contact information is available on each individual home page.
