Job Opportunities for High School Students Act - Employment Standards Service (ESS)
The Job Opportunities for High School Students Act, Section 3-206(d) of the Labor & Employment Article, amended Maryland law to allow for the limited release of the name, address and telephone number of a minor who is at least 16 years old with a work permit. Release is allowed:
- Only if the minor, parent of the minor or the guardian of the minor chooses to “opt-in” to authorize the Commissioner of Labor & Industry to share that information, and
- Only to employers and apprenticeship sponsors, educational programs and institutions, and local workforce development boards that have registered to receive the information.
Please take a minute to consider whether you want to share your contact information and to discuss with your parent or guardian. If you want to share your information, please check the box before submitting your work permit request. If you have any questions, please contact the Employment Standards Service at 410-767-2357, e-mail: dldliemploymentstandards-labor@maryland.gov.
