Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation

I have an inquiry or complaint about my credit card...

The Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation ("Commissioner") does not regulate most credit card companies, or the banks that issue them. Should you have a complaint about your credit card company, we suggest that you contact the credit card company first to try to resolve the matter. If you are unable to resolve your issue, however, you may file a complaint with the credit card company and its regulator. Additional consumer resources include the Office of the Maryland Attorney General Consumer Protection Division and the Better Business Bureau. Additionally, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) takes complaints through the CFPB website, and through a toll-free number 1-855-411-2372.
Please see the Advisory for more information.

The only credit card issues under the direct jurisdiction of the Commissioner involve state chartered banks and state chartered credit unions that issue credit cards. Please check Institutions We Supervise. for a list of state chartered banks and state chartered credit unions that the Commissioner supervises. If your bank or credit union is on that list, you may a file a complaint (directions on how to file a complaint) with the Commissioner.

Below, you will find a list of credit cards, the banks that issue the cards, and the proper regulator to contact regarding your inquiry or complaint. If you locate the name of the credit card about which you have an inquiry or complaint, please follow the link to the primary regulator for that credit card for assistance.
