Contact Information - Unemployment Insurance

The Division of Unemployment Insurance accepts claims by phone or online. We cannot accept claims by email.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: From Wednesday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday, September 20 at 12:01 a.m., Maryland’s Unemployment Insurance IT system will be offline. During this period, the Division will be unable to accept new initial claims application or weekly claim certifications, whether online or by phone. A limited number of live agents will be available by phone to answer general inquiries, but they will not be able to answer specific questions about claims. Benefit payments will not be issued during this period.
On Sunday, September 20 and Saturday, September 26, Claims Agents will be available for extended hours (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days) to assist customers.

  • If you need to reach a live claims agent to file a new claim or inquire about an existing claim, call 1-667-207-6520. Live claims agents are available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday; and from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
     
  • If you call during business hours, you may provide a callback number. When an agent becomes available, the system will call the number and connect you with an agent. You may also be offered the opportunity to connect with a virtual agent to have questions answered by smartphone.
