Elevator Safety Review Board


The Maryland Elevator Safety Review Board licenses people who engage in the business of erecting, constructing, wiring, altering, replacing, maintaining, repairing, dismantling, or servicing elevators, dumbwaiters, escalators, and moving walks. The Board regulates elevator mechanics and contractors under the provisions of Public Safety Article, Title 12, Subtitle 8, Part III, Annotated Code of Maryland, Title 9, Subtitle 35.

Currently, the Board is accepting licensing applications for Elevator Mechanics, Elevator Contractors. Elevator Renovator Mechanics and Contractors, and Accessibility Lift Mechanics. The Boards exam grace period for licensure has been extended to April 1, 2014.
