Apply for a Reciprocal License - Professional Land Surveyors
Apply for a Reciprocal License
An applicant who is licensed to practice surveying in another US State/ jurisdiction will still need to apply as an original exam applicant as the MD Board of Professional Land Surveyors does not recognize reciprocity; the two State-Specific Examinations still need to be passed successfully prior to licensure.

Application Process
- Download the Application for a Reciprocal license at the top of this page.
- Complete the application and email to [email protected]
- When applications are deemed administratively complete, they’re then reviewed during a Board meeting (Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month). Applicants will be notified thereafter of the Board’s determination.
Reciprocal License Fee:
Because most reciprocal candidates will not have passed the state-specific exams required in Maryland, the license fee is not paid until all requirements for licensure are met.
License Period: Two-year period from the date of issuance.
