Montgomery College State Board of Architects Pathways to Licensure Outreach

By Cynthia Shonaiya, AIA, LEED AP

One of my favorite activities as Chair of the Maryland Board of Architects is connecting with aspiring architects, both students and emerging professionals. Recently, I had the pleasure of moderating a 'Pathways to Licensure' panel at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, where we engaged with a lively audience of both students and members of the public eager to learn more about the multiple paths to architecture licensure available in Maryland.

My esteemed panelists were Paul D. Edmeades, RA, AIA, NCARB, Kevin Sneed, FAIA, FIIDA fellow board members; Patricia Ramallo, AIA, MBA, CAE from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB); Joseph Taylor, AIA, NCARB representing AIA Maryland and the AIA Young Architects Forum; and our gracious host Brandon Newcomer of Montgomery College.

Afterwards, while enjoying the refreshments, we were able to have one-on-one conversations with attendees and answer their personalized questions in a relaxed atmosphere. It was so much fun!

A big thank you also to representatives of the Maryland Board of Certified Interior Designers, Carmen Parsons Sneed, CID, NCIDQ, IIDA (Chair) and Cynthia Berardo who supported us with their presence.
