Apply for an Original License - Professional Engineers

ORIGINAL LICENSE BY EXAMINATION
Candidates must pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE or P&P) exam.

If you have been notified by NCEES that you passed the written Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE or P&P) exam, you will receive your registration number in the mail from the Maryland Board within approximately two weeks after being notified. You will need that registration number in order to apply for your original license.If you have been notified by NCEES that you passed the computer based technology exam (CBT), an email with further instructions will go out to you when the Maryland registration number is available. If you haven't received your Maryland registration number within a week after passing the exam, send an email to: dloplprofessionalengineers-LABOR@maryland.gov for further assistance.
Certain supporting documentation will have to be filed separately, such as transcripts and/or verification of licensure from another state, when appropriate. These forms can be mailed (with appropriate fees, if applicable) to the Board, and must be received by the application filing deadline.
License Period: Two-year period from the date of issuance.
