#26-063 In the matter of, Mariano Herrera-Barajas, subject of Stewards Ruling #26-027, dated April 2, 2026.
On June 4, 2026, Mr. Mariano Herrera-Barajas appeared before the Stewards upon the request of HCP Coordinator Jessica Hammond, for consideration of reinstatement to good standing. The HCP coordinator provided an evaluation from The Pulgar Group. In their evaluation they indicate that Mr. Herrera-Barajas is presently drug free and not a detriment to the best interests of racing. They recommended that he be reinstated to good standing and permitted to return to work subject to the following stipulation:
That at the Stewards discretion he submits to drug testing by the HCP Coordinator, the Stewards, or their designated representative. [COMAR 09.10.03.05.]

In light of the above, the Stewards hereby order that Mariano Herrera-Barajas be reinstated to good standing subject to the above-stated stipulation.

for “Love you love you”, entered to run in the second race at Laurel Park on June 5, 2026,
after not having colors on (05/23/2026).
THIS IS A VIOLATION OF: [COMAR 09.10.01.09] which states in part……
“It shall be the sole responsibility of the trainer to see that his or her owner’s colors are in the
jockey’s quarters to be used for his or her respective entries, failure to do so, the trainer will be subject to fine”.

a placing in the order of finish.

#26-069 In the matter of the ninth race at Laurel Park on June 13, 2026, regarding the Official result.
A protest was lodged by Kenneth Cox, the trainer of the second place horse “Don’t Tell Kelly”
owned by Bonuccelli Racing against the winner “Wonder Girl” trained by Michael Trombetta
and owned by Tanterra Stables. The protest states that the winner, won the ninth race while
wearing blinkers that were never declared.
On June 19, 2026, The Stewards held a hearing on this matter. Trainer Michael Trombetta
and owner Wendy Komlo were in attendance. They both waived counsel at this time and we
proceeded. After hearing testimony from Mr. Trombetta, The Stewards determined that Mr.
Trombetta had no intention of running the horse with blinkers but as absolute insurer was
ultimately responsible for the equipment worn. They also believe it was unfair to the other
horseman in the race as well as the betting public. As a result “Wonder Girl” is disqualified
from the ninth race as she was ineligible to run with blinkers on.
