The Maryland Board of Public Accountancy, in a joint effort with other state
boards of accountancy and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), has
launched a license search tool for consumers of CPA services.
CPAverify.org features a central database of
state licensee information about Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) practicing across the nation.
Maryland, as well 29 other state boards of accountancy, provides its public licensing data to NASBA
to present through CPAverify.org. The website is
free and open to the public.
Maryland is also one of seven states that provides permit/licensing data on CPA firms through
CPAverify.org. The other state boards that also
provide permit/licensing information are California, Iowa, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and
Texas.
CPAverify.org provides individuals and
organizations with a centralized way to conveniently and reliably research the official license status
of a CPA in other states. This will replace the tedious process of conducting a search of each state
board website individually. The site also provides a general license history for CPAs.
