Home Inspector Application

Apply via Original Application - Requirements are as follows:
  1. Applicants must provide a copy of their National Home Inspectors Exam (NHIE)
  2. Provide evidence of an approved 72-hour course.
  3. A copy of your high school diploma, GED or proof of higher education.
Apply via Reciprocity from another State: Select one of the approved states for reciprocity below. If you do not see your state in which you are currently licensed, you are ineligible to reciprocate with the State of Maryland and your only option is to apply with an Original Home Inspection Application.

  2. Applicants must provide a copy of their National Home Inspectors Exam (NHIE).
  3. A copy of a valid home inspection license issued from the State you selected above.
  4. * NOTE: If the Maryland Commission cannot verify the status of your license, you will be required to send us a Letter of Good Standing from the State in which you currently hold a license.

Towards the end of this application, you will be required to pay a $50 Non-Refundable Application Review fee.

After submission of payment, you will be placed in a Pending Status. If approved, you will be eligible to apply for your Home Inspection license. You will be required to remit a fee of $325 for a two-year licensing period. You must also submit proof of Maryland general liability insurance in the amount of at least $150,000.00 (the applicants name must appear on the Certificate of Insurance). A company name may also be listed on the certificate.
