Notice of Proposed Action

The State Board of Plumbing proposes to amend Regulation .10 under
COMAR 09.20.02 Enforcement of the Plumbing Law by
the Board. This action was considered by the State Board of Plumbing at a public meeting held on November 17, 2011, notice of
which was given by publication in 38:23 Md. R. 1481 (November 4, 2011).
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of this action is to amend the yearly education requirements for plumbing inspectors hired by the State, a county, or
a local government; to conform to Business Occupations and Professions Article,
§12-503(a)(1), Annotated Code of Maryland; and to require that each inspector complete eight hours of continuing
education each calendar year to adequately ensure that the inspector
remains qualified to inspect in accordance with the State Plumbing
Code.

There is no corresponding federal standard to this proposed action.

The proposed action has no economic impact.

Open Meeting
Final action on the proposal will be considered by the State Board
of Plumbing during a public meeting to be held on July 19, 2012, at
10:30 a.m., at 500 N. Calvert Street, Third Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
.10 Qualifications for Plumbing Inspectors.

B. Each plumbing inspector shall [attend, at least once each year, a
refresher course to be conducted by the State Board or a course which
is consistent in content with the State Board's course and which is
conducted by a county or local government.]:
(1) Attend, at least once each year, continuing education
pursuant to Business Occupations and Professions Article, §12-503(a)(1), Annotated Code of Maryland, to be conducted by the State
Board, or a course which is consistent in content with the State Board's course and which is conducted by a county or local
government; and
(2) In accordance with Business Occupations and Professions
Article, §12-503(a)(1), Annotated Code of Maryland, obtain a cumulative 8 hours of qualifying continuing education each calendar
year.
