The Commissioner of Labor and Industry proposes to amend Regulation .01 under COMAR 09.12.81 Elevator, Escalator, and Chairlift Safety.

Statement of Purpose

The purpose of this action is to adopt, through incorporation by reference, ASME A17.1-2010/CSA B44-10 (Revision of ASME A17.1-2007 and CSA B44-07) Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, with the exception of Section 5.6 Rooftop Elevators, Section 5.8 Marine Elevators, and Section 5.9 Mine Elevators; and ASME A17.2-2010 (Revision of ASME A17.2-2007) Guide for Inspection of Elevators, Escalators, and Moving Walks, as amended.
