Green jobs are those that will support Maryland's growing green economy. They are focused on driving sustainable economic prosperity, ensuring efficient use and conservation of existing resources, promoting renewable and alternative energy production, preserving, and enhancing environmental quality, while improving the social conditions of fellow workers and customers. Governor O'Malley is committed to a more sustainable future for Maryland and our economy. Many of the jobs in these sectors will build upon existing skill sets. Much of today's workforce will be able to transfer their knowledge to jobs in the new, green economy.
