STAFF ASSISTED PROGRAMS

WEEKLY WORKSHOPS - Information presented on Job Center Orientation (learn about the Job Center and its services), Job Search Basics (learn tips for how to approach job search, how to get organized, and where to find job leads), Internet Job Search (learn how to use the Internet for job search and improving success with online applications), and Interviewing Tips (learn employers' tips about successful interviewing to get the job. Prerequisite for Mock Interviews).

 

MOCK INTERVIEWS - A simulation of a real interview and will provide an opportunity to practice for an interview and receive feedback. Requirements: Pre-registration and prior attendance at the Interviewing Tips workshop. To register and schedule a Mock Interview, please call 301-393-8200.

RÉSUMÉ REVIEW - Are you getting results with your current résumé? A Certified Professional Résumé Writer will review your résumé and give you suggestions on ways to improve it. Simply come to the Washington County One-Stop Job Center on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. You need to bring a current résumé with you and you must have completed the Résumé Builder in Maryland's Workforce Exchange to take advantage of this service. You can enroll at Maryland Workforce Exchange.

DIVISION of REHABILITATION SERVICES (DORS) helps eligible individuals with disabilities find and retain jobs. DORS offers counseling, training, job placement assistance and follow-up. Call 301-791-4760.

DEPARTMENT of AGING - is a national, non-profit organization that provides employment services and training for qualifying seniors, age 55 years or older. Call 301-393-8243 for an appointment.

OTHER JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE

THE INTERNET - high tech ways to find job openings locally or nationwide. Very easy computer programs on 16 computers for your use. You can now post your résumé on the Internet via Maryland Workforce Exchange.

WORD PROCESSING & RÉSUMÉ SOFTWARE are available for your use in developing a résumé or cover letter.
