Alternative Directions provides free legal assistance to persons in prison or recently released from incarceration. They also help inmates represent themselves.

The ACLU of Maryland will work with prisoners on civil rights violations, prison brutality and misconduct, and access to medical treatment, etc. They will not do criminal appeals, no post conviction, or criminal defense, or time credits. In some cases they will work on an individual basis, but they usually handle large group complaints.
